Free Traffic through Free Content Distribution
In a previous post I mentioned that Free Content Distribution is a great way to get free traffic to your Site. Here are some examples of how you can do this:
- Create a short reports and give them away
- Write articles – (see this post for more on this)
- Syndicate your blog – we’ll talk more about this when we talk about blogging
- Video Marketing – I’ll also dedicate an entire article to this
Free Reports:
What I want to focus on here is how to use free reports to drive traffic to your site. This is an extremely powerful technique to generate free traffic. The concept is simple:
- You provide something of value for free
- Those receiving the value, in turn, trust you and visit the sites you recommend
Two questions on your mind are:
- How do I create these reports?
- How do I distribute them?
The answer to question 1 is that you either write them yourself or hire a ghost writer. Alternatively, you can sign up for ButterflyReports and gain access to hundreds of professionally written reports that you can instantly brand with your affiliate ID. I highly recommend this service because it’s free and it’s run by Mike Filsaime (a good friend and well-known and respected marketer), so the quality of the reports he’s having written is very high.

Distribution:
It’s one thing to create a free report and start giving it away on your own, and it’s a whole other thing to have thousands of other people distributing your report for you. This is what you really want, and the more people you can get giving your report away or even selling your report the better.

Inside the report your create you can link to your own site. Now imagine the power of even 10 other people giving your report away. Keep in mind that your report will allow the people that receive it to also give it away and so on. Great idea. However, for newbies, who do not have a list how will use these reports to generate a list. Sending to article directories or Ezines? The content will be duplicate unlesss every one gets a different report.

Thanks for the interesting article.
I must admit that I was a bit leary about signing up to yet another membership type site. However, after reading your article, there would seem to be a number of benefits in becoming a member of the ButterflyReports site.
I also have a natural healing website and newsletter, and last year I wrote a free report on controlling stress. While I didn’t do everything I should have done to optimize the viral nature of the report, largely because I was a rookie:) and this was my first online report, nevertheless, I have benefitted greatly from it and gained subscribers.
So, I can say from experience, that free reports are a good source for traffic and subscribers. The main thing is to get out there and do it!

If you don’t have a list right now then free reports can be a great incentive to help build your list. I would also recommend signing up for the Affiliate Silver Bullet system to help build your list.
But the main thing that I’m excited about with regard to this service is the ability to upload your own report and give the other members the rights to distribute it.

So, what I’m really advocating here is that you create a report and upload it to the site for others to distribute for you. And of course if you already have a list, it can be an easy way to get some affiliate sales and viral marketing of your affiliate links – using the reports already in there.
Thanks Dustin. So the reports I write will be the primary way to generate my list, not the butterfly reports I will get every month. Unless I promote them in forums or other promotion methods. Is that right?

Hi Just received your email about the changes to ASB.
I’vebeen a member since the beginning and I was also using my own hosting solution.
I must admit I had problems getting to make sure that the Aweber integration was working , but eventually it was great.
I do agree with your point entirely in that – You are spot on – it was quite time consumming chore for each bullet – and I actually decided to market it from a blog but again it was a different list for each bullet.
I am now thinking of using your new system for exactly the same reason you point out in that we would have a lot more time marketing than doing the “lifting work”.
I think from what you say its going to be fantastic.
A couple of suggestions if I may – Dustin -
1). Would you be able to start us of with a base set of keywords ( only a base) because each of these bullets is IM related or make money related and a base set of keywords would be great for marketing although you mention you will be doing some marketing for us. This is so that we can then expand each indibvidually if we wanted do soem marketing on our own as well.
Last point I wanted make was – when is the new system going to be in full operation as I will be starting asap if the newsletter is going to be running straight away.
SI must say its one of the easiest ways to make some great commission and even though we would not be building our own lists – I do suspect that most of us including me – dont really have the art of doing email marketing to a tee, and you will probably make a mucg better job at it, especially when you can cross sell including the “other ” affiliate networks that you plan to brng in.
